Kindred Communities’ Advocacy Program supports community-led educational change by engaging community advocates of color, both educators and caregivers, in a civil discourse on race and equity in community schools. In this initiative, community advocates learn about the local political landscape, city decision-making processes, and deepen their understanding of citywide systems of privilege and marginalization. Advocates develop the skills necessary to engage in formal advocacy, including participating in the testimony process at the city level. This initiative cultivates a pipeline of advocates ready to collaborate with policymakers, school system leaders, and other decision-makers to create sustainable movement towards educational fairness and justice for all students.
