Michelle is the founder and CEO of CommonLit, a highly effective and free online reading program. Under her leadership, CommonLit has grown to reach over 20 million students in the United States and Latin America.
Michelle holds a B.A. in English Literature and Spanish from Butler University and a master’s degree in Education Policy and Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is an experienced classroom teacher with expertise in program evaluation and adolescent literacy.
Michelle is a social entrepreneur and a passionate advocate for literacy, open educational resources, and effective classroom practices. She was the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the mid-Atlantic region and has raised over $30M from leaders in philanthropy and education since she founded CommonLit in 2014.
