Dorenyse Díaz is an Associate Partner responsible for building a shared approach to supporting ventures and entrepreneurs across our portfolios through management assistance and communities of practice. Previously, she supported venture leaders on the Diverse Leaders team.
Prior to joining NewSchools, Dorenyse was an assistant principal at Camino Nuevo Charter Academy in Los Angeles, There, she was instrumental in coaching educators and staff, leading wellness and school culture initiatives, and managing special education programs. In addition to being a seasoned school leader, she has experience as a consultant, teacher, and community organizer. Her focus has been supporting educators, leaders, and entrepreneurs in anti-racism, transformative justice, and disability justice.
Dorenyse graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a degree in Global Studies and Spanish Language and Literature. Raised in Southeast Los Angeles, she calls both Southeast LA and Estelí, Nicaragua her homes. Outside of work, Dorenyse enjoys writing, podcasting, traveling, and spending time with her niece, nephews, and beloved puppy, Pofi.
