What are the key steps in the hiring process?
We review applications submitted and invite the candidates who most meet the skills and experience we are looking for to a phone screen. Candidates who progress to the next stage will complete a task and asynchronous interview. Finally, a small set of finalists progress to interviews with stakeholders from across the organization and reference checks. We receive a high volume of applicants for most of our roles and are not able to interview everyone. We ensure we communicate with all applicants, even if you do not advance.
How should I prepare for my initial interview?
To best prepare for the interview, you should consider why this role and our organization matches your skills and desires. You should also review the job description and be prepared to speak to examples of your work and accomplishments. Finally, you should be prepared to ask the interviewer any questions you have about the role and workplace experience. We see the interview process as a mutual opportunity to get to know each other. We strongly encourage all candidates to learn more about our work through our NewSchools website, newsletter, and social media.
Do all NewSchools employees work remotely?
Yes, all NewSchools staff work fully remotely. Our investment team roles require travel about 25% of the time. Our shared service roles require about 10% travel. We provide regular opportunities for in-person connection through team meetings, staff retreats, events, and professional development. We also stay connected regularly via Zoom.
