Submit a Business Plan

Eligibility Requirements: We consider both nonprofit and for-profit ventures. To be eligible for consideration, ventures must:

  • Present an opportunity to produce significant, measurable outcomes for K-12 public education in the United States;
  • Be scalable (able to expand its reach over time), with the potential to impact thousands, hundreds of thousands, or millions of students;
  • Be sustainable (self-perpetuating and lasting), so that its impact will intensify with time. Sustainability should be demonstrated through a sound revenue model and/or clear and credible funding plans;
  • Be led by passionate entrepreneurs who have expertise in education and business management and the wherewithal to execute the venture's vision;
  • Clearly benefit from NewSchools’ participation;
  • Fit with our current investment strategy

Submission Requirements: We accept business-plan submissions year-round for both nonprofit and for-profit ventures. To be considered for funding, please click here to submit a brief business plan that describes your venture, including financials. Business plans must include three components:

  1. Executive summary, which should be five to ten pages long, and should include—but need not be limited to—the following information:
    1. Mission/vision
    2. Description of the product or service to be provided
    3. Description of the market/population to be served
    4. Strategy for accomplishing mission
    5. Description of the management team and their backgrounds
  2. Financial information, which should include, at minimum:
    1. Demonstration of a sound, credible, and sustainable revenue model and/or credible, sustainable funding plan (including detailed historical financials, if any, plus a 3-5 year financial projection).
    2. Documentation of corporate status (for-profit or nonprofit)
    3. Estimate of the amount of capital needed
    4. Explanation of what the funds will be used to accomplish

    1. Primary contact name
    2. Email address
    3. Telephone number
    4. Fax number
    5. Mailing address
